Transition to the Azure Cloud

About Miniclipper Logistics

Miniclipper is a fast-growing, family owned Logistics business that has been operating for nearly 50 years. They provide 3pl warehousing and transport services to almost 200 clients.

The business started as a man and a van operation and quickly grew into a fleet of 40 rigid and articulated vehicles, delivering to all corners of the UK every day.

Miniclipper now have a 100,000sq ft warehouse in Leighton Buzzard with around 35,000 pallet spaces for storage across 5 sites and are now members of the Palletline and Hazchem Network.

“AZTech have a very competent help desk team that are able to resolve queries straight away, if they cannot be solved, the tickets are escalated to another team that take the responsibility of resolving IT issues.”

“We have been working with AZTech for around 10 years and in that time, they have been a valuable partner that has helped Miniclipper stay at the forefront of IT technology. Without AZTech, their support, and strategic guidance, we won’t have the integrated IT solutions we are running today, they have supported the infrastructure changes in the business that have been necessary to take Miniclipper forward.”

“If you’re looking for IT Support, you need a company that listens to its customers and provides solutions it needs rather than solutions it believes you may want – we have found AZTech do that.”

The Project

Miniclipper have two main systems they use for Transport Management and Warehouse Management, as well as accounting software for their accounts and payroll solutions.

In late 2018, we carried out a strategic review of Miniclipper’s IT infrastructure and since then Miniclipper has been adopting our recommendations sporadically over the past 2 years. In late 2019, Miniclipper took the decision to move their systems in a phased plan over to the Azure Cloud.

On 20th October 2019, the transition to the new environment began – their Transport department were first moved over, followed by Finance and then the Warehouse Management System solution was upgraded and finally moved to the Cloud in March 2020.

The project was planned, but due to the scale of the migration, it was scheduled over the weekend to provide minimal disruption to Miniclipper.

No business days were lost in the transfer and Miniclipper are now looking at how they can get the most out of the Azure environment.

The move to the Azure Cloud has provided many business continuity benefits and ensured that when the pandemic started, Miniclipper were able to have staff operate from home without any issues.
