Why Central London Businesses Need Integrated Data Protection

Central London businesses face a perfect storm of risk. Ransomware attacks target UK organisations daily. Compliance frameworks like FCA regulations, GDPR, and ISO 27001 demand proper data retention and recovery capabilities. And most companies only discover their backups do not work at the worst possible moment - when they actually need them. Since 2006, Aztech has helped businesses across the City, Canary Wharf, and the West End build resilience that actually holds up under pressure.

  • Backup as a Service (BaaS)

Automated, encrypted, geo-redundant backups for your servers, VMs, databases, and Microsoft 365 environment. Azure Backup protects everything from individual emails to entire systems - with granular restore that lets you recover exactly what you need. We define RPO targets so you know precisely how much data you can afford to lose.

  • Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS)

Azure Site Recovery provides failover to the cloud in minutes, not hours. We build tested recovery plans with defined RTO targets, full DR runbooks, and annual testing included as standard. When disaster strikes, your systems come back online fast - because we have already rehearsed every step.

  • Business Continuity Planning

Protection goes beyond IT. We conduct Business Impact Analysis to identify your critical systems, then build continuity plans for every scenario - cyber attack, flood, power outage, or pandemic. Communication plans, escalation procedures, and regular reviews keep your strategy current as your business evolves.

  • Microsoft 365 Backup and Protection

Most organisations assume Microsoft backs up their data automatically. It does not. Native retention policies are not a backup solution. We protect your email, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data with dedicated backup that gives you full control over retention and recovery - independent of Microsoft.

What is your approach to backup?

We use Azure Backup to protect servers, VMs, databases, and your full Microsoft 365 environment - including email, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Backups are automated, encrypted, and geo-redundant. You get granular restore capabilities so you can recover a single file, a single email, or an entire system. We agree RPO targets upfront so you always know where you stand.

How does disaster recovery work with Aztech?

We deploy Azure Site Recovery to provide rapid failover when your primary systems go down. Your recovery plan includes defined RTO targets, full documentation, and runbooks that our team follows step by step. We test your DR plan annually to make sure it works in practice - not just in theory. When something goes wrong, failover happens in minutes.

What does business continuity planning include?

We start with a Business Impact Analysis to identify which systems and processes are critical to your operations. From there, we build continuity plans covering multiple scenarios - from cyber attacks and flooding to power outages and pandemics. Each plan includes communication procedures, escalation paths, and clear responsibilities. We review and update everything regularly as your business changes.

What Our Client Say

"Aztech feel like part of our team, not just a supplier. They're always thinking ahead, recommending changes before we even realise we need them. The quarterly reviews have completely changed how we plan our IT spending."

"We stopped worrying about IT the month Aztech took over. Everything just works now, updates happen in the background, issues get caught before we even notice, and if something does come up, their team is on it straight away. It's like having an in-house IT department without the overhead."

"What stands out is how fast they move. We had a server issue at 7am on a Monday, and Aztech had it resolved before most of the team had logged in. That's not a one-off either, that's just how they operate."

Business Continuity & Data Protection FAQ

What is the difference between backup and disaster recovery?
Backup is about protecting your data - creating copies that you can restore if something gets deleted, corrupted, or encrypted by ransomware. Disaster recovery is about getting your entire systems back online after a major incident. Think of backup as saving your files and disaster recovery as rebuilding your office. Most Central London businesses need both working together as part of a wider continuity strategy.
Does Microsoft 365 back up my data automatically?
No - and this is one of the most common misconceptions we encounter. Microsoft 365 provides retention policies and some recoverability, but these are not the same as a proper backup. If data is deleted beyond the retention window, or if your account is compromised, Microsoft will not recover it for you. A dedicated M365 backup solution gives you independent, long-term protection for email, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data.
What RPO and RTO should my business target?
It depends on your operations. RPO (Recovery Point Objective) defines how much data loss you can tolerate - for a financial services firm, that might be minutes. RTO (Recovery Time Objective) defines how quickly systems need to come back online. We help you define these targets based on a Business Impact Analysis, then design backup and recovery solutions that meet them. The right targets balance protection with cost.
How often should disaster recovery plans be tested?
At minimum, annually - and we include annual DR testing as standard in our managed services. However, you should also test after any significant infrastructure change, such as migrating to a new platform or adding critical systems. Testing reveals gaps that documentation alone cannot catch. We run full failover tests and provide detailed reports on what worked, what needs improvement, and recommended next steps.
What does business continuity planning involve?
Business continuity planning starts with understanding what your organisation needs to keep operating. We conduct a Business Impact Analysis to identify critical systems, processes, and dependencies. From there, we build plans for different scenarios - cyber attack, physical disaster, supply chain failure, pandemic. Each plan covers communication, escalation, roles, and recovery steps. We review and update plans regularly because businesses change and yesterday's plan might not fit today's reality.
How much does backup as a service cost?
Pricing depends on what you need to protect and how much data is involved. We offer per-device and per-user pricing for Azure Backup and Microsoft 365 backup, with no hidden fees. Most Central London SMBs find that managed backup costs significantly less than the cost of a single data loss incident. We provide a clear quote after an initial assessment so you know exactly what you are paying for before anything starts.
